You can also apply for Medicare in your state if you have a qualifying disability, no matter your age. People with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and Lou Gehrig’s disease can get Medicare Advantage in Oklahoma regardless of age.
In Oklahoma, there are several enrollment periods for Medicare Advantage:
- Initial Enrollment Period — If you’re turning 65, you can sign up for Medicare Advantage starting three months before you turn 65. Initial enrollment ends three months after that date, for a total of seven months.
- Medicare Open Enrollment Period — You may join a Medicare Advantage plan or switch or drop your current Part C plan from October 15 to December 7 each year, also known as the Annual Enrollment Period.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period — If you already have a Medicare Advantage plan but want to change to a different Part C plan, you can do so from January 1 to March 31.
- Special Enrollment Period — Special enrollment periods are triggered by events, such as losing health insurance through your employer. Suppose you were qualified to delay Medicare and didn’t sign up during Initial Enrollment. In that case, you can sign up for Medicare Advantage within two months of losing your current coverage without incurring a penalty.
Are There Oklahoma Medicare Advantage Plans with Prescription Drug Coverage?
