Rachael Zimlich, RN, BSN, is a critical care nurse and medical journalist based in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her journalism degree from Point Park University in 2003, and has written from numerous publications like Medical Economics, Healthline, Managed Healthcare Executive, and the Akron Beacon Journal. Rachael has earned a number of accolades for her writing, including winning the Jesse H. Neal Award for her work with DVM Newsmagazine. She specializes in writing about clinical care, healthcare affordability and access, and practice management.
In addition to writing, Rachael has expanded her experience in healthcare as a bedside nurse in a critical care unit. Her unit treated COVID-19 patients during the pandemic, and she continues to work with patients and serve in leadership and training roles there. She has a unique understanding of the challenges in healthcare from the perspective of both a writer and a caregiver.
Rachael lives in a rural area outside of Cleveland with her husband, two sons, two sheepdogs, a few fish, and some hermit crabs. She enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.
